How to grow long healthy nails? / cure brittle nails

Hey “BD beauties”!

Growing your nails longer can be a hectic task for some people but following a few things can definitely change that up for you. Some people are blessed with long healthy nails but some people cannot grow your nails without having their tips broken. If this happens to you don’t worry its very common!
If you have short fingers like me having a good length instantly gives you an illusion of longer fingers so that’s why I love to have some length to my fingers. Many things contribute to how tour nails look, it’s very similar to your hair. Main factors include diet and how well you take care of your nails.
I have a few tips for you telling about the things I follow to grow my nails longer.

Diet

The important thing that’s needed for healthy growth of your nails is calcium. If you do not have enough calcium you can find white strokes on your nail telling you that you have a calcium deficiency. I used to have these lot but ever since I started eating a good proportion of eggs and milk in my diet, these disappeared overtime! Supplements such as fish oil pills are great to strengthen your nails, hair and skin. To avoid brittle nails vitamin A is very important. Foods including vitamin A are carrots, sweet potatoes, mangoes etc.

Taking care of your nails

You need to pamper your nails often to make sure they are good from the outside too. One thing that people do wrong is apply nail paint often. This is an extreme NO. Your nails need to breath and applying nail paint stops them from doing so.

Pampering your nails is important too especially if your nails come in contact with chemicals such as dishwasher liquids. You can warm up an owl of olive oil and soak your nails in them for about 10 minutes and then massage them softly once you do so, apply some cotton gloves and let them sit like that for as long as you can. I recommend doing this at night.
Avoid nail polish removers with acetone. If you wear nail polish often avoid this! This will wear down the strength of your nails overtime thus making them weak and brittle and not shiny. Also wear a base coat before applying your nail polish to condition your nails.

When you file your nails, only file them in one direction! This prevents them from splitting.
Avoid biting your nails! This again leads to the nails splitting and making them weak.
