Hey “BD beauties”!
Today I’m going to review the famous NYX eye shadow base in
the shade ‘skin tone’.
It has 7g of product and can be purchased HERE for $4.34
What does NYX say about this product?
A lightweight primer
that creates a seamless canvas that keeps cream and powder eye color looking
brilliant, fresh, and just-applied all day.
My experience with this product.
As for my knowledge, this NYX product is known as a close
dupe for MAC paint pot in painterly. Its purpose of being a skin tone shade is
to neutralise pigmentation or any discoloration on the eye lids. I have tried
the elf eyelid primer and for me being a medium skin toned girl, it can be a
little too light. This however is the perfect shade for a base.
This base does keep up with its claim of giving a perfect
canvas for eye shadows and also prevents creasing thus your eye looks are great
as how they would look when freshly applied.
It can sometimes happen that creamy bases as this would make
the lid oily instead of doing the opposite but this thankfully isn’t like that.
It has a consistency of a powder after it sets on the lids. The scent is a very
faint baby powder like smell which goes away after application. I love the
packaging on this product! Its sleek, durable and quite good looking for a
product on budget!
You get 7g of product which isn’t too much but this stuff
will last quite sometime before you head out for a repurchase. I love using
skin tone bases for dramatic eye looks with vibrant shades where I want every colour
to show up at its maximum vibrancy and i use sheer primer where the look is
fairly casual.
What’s great about this product?
- Does what it claims
- Sets to a powdery like consistency
- Great price point
- Can find it anywhere
- Neutralises the lids well
What’s not so great?
- Nothing really :)
Overall verdict
I highly recommend this
product to any makeup enthusiast! I rarely find a product without the ‘not so
great points’ and this is definitely one in my books! I’m eager to try the two
other variants which I believe one is a white base and other a shimmery white.

Ya, why not..I always use some sort of primer or concealer just to give it a better base...
