Hey “BD beauties”!
This post is going to be a product review on a Maybelline expert
wear eye shadow trio in the shade ‘Charming cobalt’ which i hauled HERE. I have
never tried Maybelline eye shadows and this was very exciting for me! The shades
were perfect for a soft Smokey look and also it seems like a limited edition
product. However, you can find this on eBay and many other retailers easily.

My experience with this product
Apart from the excitement i had in trying this, I was also
slightly disappointed as the swatches didn’t seem pigmented. However, my
opinion changed when i experimented with the product.
Pigmentation: when swatched by itself, the shadows seem so
cheap and not pigmented at all. However, when a primer is used underneath it
makes a hugh difference! I used the elf eye lid primer for my first impression
test and it worked really good! My favourite shade off the 3 shades is the brow
bone one. It’s the most pigmented and is true to colour when on the lids. However,
the blue shade which is supposed to be the highlight of this palette is a major
let down as it’s not pigmented and is so not the colour when applied to the
lids.
Texture: the shadows are okay not the best texture but yet
able to work with. However, All 3 shades are chalky like I said before, using a
primer makes them way better than by itself so I would highly recommend you use
one with this.
Blendability: I didn’t have any issues whatsoever to lend
the harsh edges or 2 shades together. Using a fluffy lending brush works better
than a normal shadow brush.
Longevity: I tried the shadows by itself for the purpose of
this review and it was terrible. Because of its chalky texture, it didn’t even
stay for a minimum of 2 hours it creased and got all messy.
Packaging: the trio comes with a sponge applicator which is
useless but the overall packaging seems sturdy and the lid shuts close with a
snap. If you get a palette with your favourite shades, it could make a perfect
travel makeup product.
Multi usage: the brow bone shade in this palette is a lovely
cheek bone highlighter as well for medium skin tones.

What’s great about this product?
- Decent pigmentation with a primer underneath
- Excellent packaging
- Lasts long with a primer
What’s not so great?
- By itself without a primer, the palette is a complete failure
- Sponge applicator messes up the product
- The blue shade doesn’t appear true to colour

Overall verdict
This is more of a beginner palette as it has guidelines as
to where the shade should go. However, don’t forget to pair a primer underneath
to make shadows last use a primer underneath. This is defiantly a palette on
budget and will work perfect (with a primer)
Hope this review helped!

By looking at the pigmentation, that's visible that without the primer, it wont last long or show decent intensity. Loved you eye makeup.

DeleteWonderful post! As you said this eyeshadow will last long only when applied with the primer.
