I recently made a few purchases from asos.com and one of them was the rimmel soft kohl kajal eye liner pencil in shade 061 Jet black. This post is going to contain a detailed review and swatches of this black liner. I’m always in the hunt for a good quality smudge proof liner and I realise that unless its waterproof smudge proof is something you shouldn’t think of in a liner. Read on to know more!

My experience with this product

Rimmel London is a good brand to start with but it could always be a hit or miss with products. The soft kohl is really pigmented and glides on like a dream which means it’s perfectly safe to use on the waterline without tugging or pulling. Coming along with the creaminess is the fact that it will smudge quickly you need to set it down with a matte lack eye shadow for longer wear time and to delay the smudging. I recommend it to be used on the upper lash line or as a base rather than a pencil in the waterline.

I hate the fact that this needs to e sharpened we all know how much product can e lost doing this and the retractable feature would have been great.

The shade jet lack is the pure black you need but I believe rimmel has 7 other shades even in the brighter options which would be fun to play around with.

What’s not so great about this product?

• Smudges quickly
• Not perfect for long time wear

Overall verdict

This isn’t your smudge proof black liner but is perfect for everything else you could do with it. It’s a wonderful base for any dark Smokey eyes and also great to smudge on your upper lash line for a Smokey eye look.
