This is going to be a review of the Maybelline eye studio quad in no 800 makeover mocha (limited edition) that I purchased from eBay recently and hauled HERE. This quad is more of a day/night shadow range with neutrals which you know anyone can take maximum use out of! I love this product so far and haven’t had any issues with it, read on to know my comprehensive review!

My experience with this product

This is one of the products which Maybelline is famous for. These quads are known for good quality shadows in drugstore! I can definitely see that they are pretty good but not as good as the wet n wild shadows.
Quality: the shades give out an average pigmentation. Not the best but good enough to last all day (with an eye primer). The shadows are really chalky as well which is kind of a bummer but that’s why eye primers are there for! I tried these with my elf eyelid primer which is a dollar, and it worked really great. Check out my grey Smokey eye tutorial HERE to see these shadows in action.

Longevity: for this post, i did swatches with and without primer and to my surprise I saw the swatches with primer last me a day until my shower at night this proves that the shadows will stay on in place for quite some time.

Shade variation in the quad: i love the variety of shades, this particular quad has all neutrals with the darker graphite shade for night which makes it a travel friendly palette for a day and night look.
Packaging: the packaging of these quads are really sleek and not bulky at all. It shuts with a snap (i love to hear the snap, it gives me a sense of security :P ) the quad also comes with a double sided sponge applicator with one side that has the traditional oval shaped applicator and the other side has a pointed shape which i find i great for smudging liner.

Other factors: if you have allergies or sensitive to any ingredients, you can check them behind the palette where they are listed clearly. The formulation of these shadows are said to be safe for contact lens wearers.

What’s great about this product?
  • Safe for contact lens wearers
  • Has both day and night shades
  • Long wearing with primer
  • Sleek packaging
  • Can be found easily at drugstores and online (other shades, this is limited edition)

What’s not so great?
  • Pigmentation isn’t good without primer
  • Shades are slightly chalky

Overall verdict

If you have the money and want some goo shadows, just go for MAC. But of you’re on a budget or just experimenting with shades, this would be a great option.
Other quads in this line
  • Give me gold
  • Copper chic
  • Sapphire siren
  • Mad for mauve
  • Green with envy
  • Legendary lilac
  • Pink persuation
  • Purple icon
  • Taupe temptress

  14. So the trick is primer. I've got a few Maybelline quads and I find the pigment isn't too strong, but I don't usually use a primer.
