6 Steps to look flawless in pictures (makeup artist tips)

Hey everyone!

This post is going to be about how to look picture perfect with the right makeup techniques. A lot of us feel like our makeup looks good when we look at the mirror but when a picture is taken, it might look too light, cakey or even too white. Let me take you through a few steps to create flawless makeup to look perfect in pictures these are the steps i take and my pictures fairly look good.

6 Steps to look flawless in pictures (makeup artist tips)

1 Add skincare to glamour
It’s important to include skincare with your makeup! If you’re taking a picture or no, be sure to apply moisturizer to your face and any treatment if any underneath your makeup this makes sure your taking care of your skin while you look glamorous!

2 Create a flawless base
Whatever glamorous eye makeup you do, you need a good base to make it standout. First, apply a full coverage foundation that’s 2 to 3 shades lighter than your own skin shade and let it set. The reason for this is as lighter shades cover your imperfections better. Now once your base is dried, apply your shade of foundation and buff it in now your imperfections are covered and your skin tone evened out! This is a great secret that many of you might not know and definitely works. An important step is to make sure the lighter shade dries first. Also another tip is to avoid foundations with SPF above 10. Higher SPF gives you a white cast in pictures!
Once the second layer dries, press in powder on the areas you get dry only! This is really important. Don’t powder your dry areas this makes your face cakey.

3 Bring structure
This step includes highlighting the areas that need to e lifted and contort ha areas that need to e sucked in. I will do an in depth post on contouring and highlighting later on but for now keep in mind that you shouldn’t use a shimmery bronzer to contour! Use a darker shade of bronzer and sweep under your cheekbones, sides of your forehead and your jaw line. If you want to shape up your nose, shade the sides of your nose as well!
As for highlighting, sweep throught a glowing highlighter over your cheek bones, on your brow bones and over your cupids bow.

4 Plump up your lips
You need to make your lips look structured and look healthy for a good picture. The steps to achieve this are; line your lips with a lip liner a shade or two darker than the lipstick you intend to wear. If you use a old colour, fill in your entire lips with the lip liner. Next, apply your lipstick with a lip brush this gives precise application and even application. Another trick that makeup artists use here is to blot excess lipstick with tissue and then dust translucent powder over the lips. These seals the layer of lipstick then apply another layer with your lip brush and top it off with gloss on the centre of the upper and lower lip!

5 Brighten your eyes
Bigger and brighter eyes always look healthy and pretty in pictures. To look awake, apply flesh colour nude eyeliner in your waterline this makes your eyes look bigger and also fresh. To add more to a youthful look, highlight your brow bone and inner corner of your eye! Also you can create a deeper crease by contouring your eyes with a matte medium brown.

6 Bring on the blush
We naturally blush in a rosy pink colour. So if you’re going for a natural look a rosy pink or berry shade of blushes are perfect! Dust a little bit on the outer apples and this instantly makes you look happy and young!

Hope this sort a lot of your common issues with makeup in photos! HAPPY READING!
