This is going to be a review of the mask that I have been using for a while now. It’s the Origins clear improvement active charcoal mask to clear pores. The mask is a great one for acne prone skin or oily skin and of course a way to pamper your skin once in a while! Read on to know more!

What does Origins say about this mask?

What it is:
A mask with activated charcoal to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers.

What it is formulated to do:
When environmental toxins, dirt, and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, and skin looks cloudy. Nature's complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skin's overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

What else you need to know:
Activated charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers. White China clay absorbs environmental toxins, and lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that stuff down there, skin breathes a sigh of relief. Best for all skin types.

My experience with this product

I bought this product just because of the fact that it was raved by many beauty bloggers to be a great mask for oily skin. I tried it out at the time I was breaking out a lot and was beginning to go under acne treatment so I didn’t really find anything good about it. But recently I have been in love with this product!
The consistency of this product is really thick so you need to be careful and close the cap tight to avoid being dried up. It smells kind of like dirt possibly because they product is fairly natural and doesn’t have added chemicals that are harmful for your skin. Once applied it takes a good 20 to 30 minutes to dry up and once it gets light in colour you need to wash it off with warm water. I have tried cold water but it just takes ages to come off.

As for what it does to my skin, I definitely see lesser breakouts when I use this and also I find that it prevents any breakout from surfacing when I use this on the spot where I feel a bump appearing. I also feel like it’s more effective when I wash my face with warm water prior to applying.

I wouldn’t recommend this to those with dry skin since I feel like it will dry your skin out even more!

What’s great about the Origins clear improvement active charcoal mask?

  • It prevents breakouts
  • Clears pores
  • Good for oily skin
  • Clean and easy packaging

What’s not so great about the Origins clear improvement active charcoal mask?

  • Isn’t good for dry skin
  • Slightly expensive ($24)

Overall verdict

I love this product. It’s a good one for my oily/ acne prone skin. However if you have extreme acne conditions it wouldn’t be the best for you. It’s slightly expensive but I feel like it’s worth for oily skin.
