Hey “BD beauties”!
Review and swatches: Elf studio blush in the shade 'gotta glow' |
Hope your having a great week! It’s been raining a lot the
past couple of days where I live so taking pictures for the blog wasn’t
something that was happening. Finally the sun was out today and I was able to
snap a few for product reviews coming soon!
Today I’m reviewing Elf’s studio blush in the shade ‘gotta
glow’. Now although it’s under the name of blush, it’s basically a highlighter.
I would describe this shade as a creamy beige powder highlighter with specs of
golden shimmer and sheen. It’s supposed to be a dupe for NARS Albatross. Read on
to know my views on this!
Costs $3 on the elf website for 4.75g of product
What’s does Elf say about this product?
The soft sheer texture
blends into the skin for a silky finish. Designed to be worn alone or layered
for more depth. Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow!

My experience with this product
Like I mentioned above I love highlighter especially those
that give a golden sheen so this was an exciting product for me! When I
initially saw this product online it looked straight up white so that made me a
little hesitant but it turned out to e a good product after all.
Quality: the pigmentation on this is great however; most of
it is chalky and powdery as you can notice in the pictures. Apart from that, if
you have a good base (foundation) the highlighter will work just fine. It does
have shimmers in it which are visible on your face as well.
Is it a good highlighter? I’m not extremely impressed and wouldn’t
call it my Holy Grail product but I can defiantly say it’s a good highlighter
for 3 bucks! Moreover, it doesn’t appear white on medium skin tone (Myself). However,
if you’re darker it might e a little problem especially in flash photography.
Staying power: I tested this product with the Revlon colorstay
liquid foundation as a base and it seemed as though the glow from this product
faded away after about 4 hours and was left with the shimmers.
Dupe for NARS Albatross? I haven’t tried the Nars version
but according to the reviews i have read, it seems like the issue of the specs
of shimmers won’t be present with the high end version so you will get what you
pay for!
Packaging: the entire packaging of the product itself is an
exact dupe for NARS products. It’s extremely sleek and sturdy and also it has a
mirror which is always handy!
What’s great about this product?
- Good highlighter on a budget
- Good amount of product for $3
- Suitable for medium and fair skin tones
- Sleek and study packaging
What’s not so great?
- Has chunky shimmers which doesn’t look great
- Isn’t suitable for darker skin tones
- Elf doesn’t ship worldwide so you may have to try other sites that sell elf
Overall verdict
I love this product but my only complaint is that it has
chunky shimmers that comes on the face. I wouldn’t mind if it was for a blush
but for a highlighter it wouldn’t be great. If you trying highlighters for the
first time, I would defiantly recommend this and if your eying the NARS Albatross,
this is a great way to have a taste of it!
Hope this review helped! Comment below if you have tried
this product and also let me know your favourite highlighters :)
